Grasp Academy Case Study
Introducing our Oasis Program with Grasp Academy
Alquimista partnered with GRASP Academy, a Jacksonville-based charter school with a focus on students with dyslexia, to implement the “Oasis” program for the GRASP students. Alquimista presented to The Green Team, an after-school club of 20+ voluntary students who aspire to make the world a better place with technology and environmental consciousness.
The goal of the program was to 1. Build an Oasis (water storage and filtration system) that may be used as a safe haven during natural disasters, and 2. Use these Oasis’ as a method to teach students about cutting-edge technologies, including the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain, and Augmented Reality (AR), while promoting engagement and developing conscious environmental stewards.
What is an Oasis?
Oasis: An Oasis is comprised of the following components:
Water Storage & Filtration
Smart Water Irrigation System
Hydroponics System
Solar Powered
Artificial Intelligence for learning + maintenance
IoT Sensors
Our Oasis is designed 1. Provide safe and clean drinking water during natural disasters, and 2. An education hub and learning center for students.
Oasis: the Education Hub
With individualized learning at the core of our philosophy, we allowed students to interact with the learning materials in various ways: article readings, videos, and interactive AR-powered play. Students had full autonomy to choose their learning method of choice.
With Augmented Reality, we allowed students to learn with visualizations of the full life-cycle of the plants we planted and water chemistry.
We introduced the concepts of the Internet of Things with sensors that communicated the health of the plants in real-time.
Technical Specifications:
Use of augmented reality for interactive learning
Applied use of individualized learning
Automated water filtration system
Blockchain technology
Cryptocurrency implementation
