Puerto Berrio, Colombia Case Study
In an effort to provide 50,000 students in Bajo Cauca with access to Khan Academy virtual education, Alquimista has established a partnership with Renaissance Jax to deliver devices (laptops and tablets) and internet connectivity to the region. Along with these devices, Alquimista has also identified a need for real-world skills training, and as such, they have partnered with Renaissance Jax to provide a curriculum focused on STEAM through FIRST robotics. Renaissance Jax is an official partner with FIRST®. As a FIRST Partner, they are responsible for growing the most advanced youth robotics competition platform in the world. From resource allocation, fundraising, event management, professional development, and community engagement, Renaissance builds community through vision and leadership. We all know that our world needs more good people who solve problems and make an impact with the value they provide to their community.
From 2013 to 2019, Renaissance Jax grew FIRST Robotics from 140 participants to over 7,000 budding young engineers, scientists, and problem-solvers in Northeast Florida. They work with over 2% of public school students in Duval County, the 20th biggest school district in the United States. This growth is record-breaking for FIRST globally and demonstrates that Renaissance Jax truly has developed a world-class program designed to engage the communities in which it serves.
